”The world is full of people who have never, since childhood, met an open doorway with an open mind.” ~E.B. White
They are funny things…gates and doors. They sometimes loom overhead, they lock things out, lock things in, they creak, crack, crumble or hold. They sometimes assume an innocent posture. As we pass by them day by day, we easily overlook their purpose and only recognize their presence or their use.
Doorways and gateways open to future places and close to the past. They are symbols of new chapters, new chances, new beginnings, new life, new places or of finding something (or someone) lost. They stand for adventure. Sometimes, once crossing through them, there is no turning back.
A gateway or doorway has alot to say about the place it inhabits. Sometimes, they morph into characters all on their own. Some say there are 7 Gateways of the Life Force. Some state there are 7 Gateways to Hell. The Bible tells us about the Gateway to Heaven and to Hell, and how to tell the difference.
Whatever you believe, and wherever you find yourself in this moment that you read this…consider this one thing….”something” is there waiting.
As I work, finalizing my first novel titled, “Something’s at the Gate,” as well as other projects, I see this blog spot as a doorway of expression. Henry James once said, “We work in the dark-we do what we can-we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion, and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.”
Thank you in advance, for reading and following my blogs. No matter if they express madness or passion, relax, sit back…keep an open mind…pour a mug of whatever your poison of choice might be…and follow me as I tumble down the rabbit hole each day.
Writing from the Gate,
Cheryl Starr~
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be kept safe. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
